Entitlement of nationals of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the state support of building savings

Nationals of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who do not have a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic and have only been issued a residence card in the Czech Republic and assigned a birth number by the competent authority of the Czech Republic, are entitled to the state support of building savings for a transitional period, i.e. from 1. 2. 2020 to 31. 12. 2020, in accordance with the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, under the same conditions as for citizens of the European Union.

From 1. 1. in 2021, these persons will be entitled to the state support of building savings only if they are issued a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic. However, persons without permanent residence may continue to be participants in building savings and meet the so-called six-year binding period pursuant to Section 12, Paragraph 2 of Act No. 96/1993 Coll., on Building Savings and State Support for Building Savings, as amended, subject to payment credited advances of the state support to the participant.
